Bruce K. Sneed, MBA, CFP®, is the founder and President of BK Sneed Financial Planning, a fee-only financial planning and Registered Investment Advisory firm located in Prince William County, VA.  The firm specializes in providing objective financial planning and investment advice to individuals on an hourly, as-needed or ongoing basis.   BK Sneed Financial Planning accepts no sales commissions and there are no hidden fees for services.  “I help working families from all backgrounds and income brackets figure out how to save for retirement, fund college educations, and care for aging parents. These folks deserve affordable, independent financial  advice,” says Bruce.  “I want to be their trusted advisor and help them achieve their financial goals.”  

Experience and Education  
  • Over twenty years experience with military pay, entitlements and compensation issues.  Has worked on financial management matters with both military personnel and DoD civilians at virtually every level of the Army and Department of Defense.  Specializes in providing financial planning and investment advice to persons currently in, or transitioning from, government service.   Founded BK Sneed Financial Planning to focus on providing financial planning services for Americans from middle income backgrounds.
  • Bruce is a Registered Investment Advisor in the state of Virginia.
  • Completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional education program through the College of Financial Planning and passed the CFP Board’s certification examination on his first attempt.  Having met the board’s experience, education and examination requirements (and having signed their ethics oath), he was subsequently authorized to use the CFP® mark of distinction.
  • Active member of the Garrett Planning Network, an international affiliation of fee-only financial advisors dedicated to providing competent, objective financial advice to people from all walks of life.
  • Graduated from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, Texas in 1987 with a BBA in Finance, Magna Cum Laude.  Graduated from The University of South Carolina in 1993 with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). 
  • Currently serving as Member, Board of Directors, Belvoir Federal Credit Union.
  • Serves as President of CGSC 2000, LLC, an investment club composed of active and retired professional military officers.
  • Served in the United States Army as an enlisted soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer for five years, and a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Finance Corps for sixteen years; retired from active duty in 2003.
  • Prior to founding BK Sneed Financial Planning, worked as a Senior Budget and Financial Analyst for two years with Jacobs Sverdrup Technology, Inc.
